Marking Unclassified Media

It is no longer necessary to mark sensitive media unless the media contains Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) or Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI).

For UCNI, Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information or the UCNI acronym should appear on the label. For NNPI, Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information or the NNPI acronym should be used. It is a good idea to mark media containing other sensitive data if you feel it would help to determine how to properly handle the data. You should take special care handling all sensitive media and ensure it is locked in a drawer or cabinet before leaving for the day.

More information about handling sensitive information can be found at http://int.lanl.gov/security/protectinfo.
